This is a simple reminder to our Republicans of Buncombe County. We continue to gather supplies in collaboration with Hearts with Hands at the New BCGOP Headquarters located at 1200 Bleachery Drive. We have extended the dates for an additional two weeks including Thursday June 23rd and 30th.

This Thursday, June 16th is of particular importance. We have invited several media outlets to come share in our efforts from 4:30-5:30 p.m. and we need a great turn out. Please rally the troops and let’s show them what Buncombe Republicans are all about and continue aiding those in need.

Press release from June 7th, 2011

The Asheville Citizen Times is reporting that Governor Beverly Perdue was in Asheville Monday morning criticizing the General Assembly’s budget saying it will severely cut education funding and take a “step backward” that she is not willing to take. North Carolina is one of the highest taxed states in the southeast, with one of the highest unemployment rates in the nation and a $2 billion deficit. While our businesses and families are suffering, Governor Perdue wants to increase taxes by over $1 billion.  Taking over $1 billion from our wallets will cost NC private sector jobs and harm families.

The General Assembly’s bipartisan budget eliminates the billion dollar sales tax increase and gives 450,000 small businesses a tax cut to expand while at the same time spending within one percent of what Governor Perdue proposed in her budget.  This bipartisan budget fully funds every teacher and teacher assistant position in the state and provides money to study a performance based pay system to reward our best teachers. Claims that the budget will gut education and cut 30,000 teachers are simply untrue.   What Governor Perdue is really concerned about is focusing on her political fortunes and protecting the state bureaucracy instead of what is best for the people of North Carolina.

Some of the Governor’s closest political allies in the legislature have voted for the General Assembly’s budget, including one of her chief fundraisers Rep. Bill Owens of Elizabeth City.  According to the Wilmington Star News, ten term Democrat NC Rep. Dewey Hill of Whiteville called the General Assembly’s budget a “great budget . . .  If you look at K-12 , not that much different in the budget than what the governor was wanting . . . I think it is a good budget.  It helps North Carolina.”  With some of the most diehard Democrat legislators supporting the General Assembly’s budget, it is very clear that Governor Perdue’s comments are purely based on politics and fear mongering instead of protecting our schools.  It is unfortunate that she has chosen to place her political needs ahead of the interests of the people of North Carolina.  Governor Perdue needs to focus on doing the business of the people instead of spreading half-truths and distortions. The General Assembly has provided what they promised to do by making job creation their top priority and by passing far-reaching tax cuts that will get our economy moving.

Dear Fellow North Carolinian,

On Monday, President Obama will visit our state – where he has chosen to hold the Democratic Convention – to talk about jobs and the economy.

In advance of his visit, we produced “Broken Promises,” a television ad to highlight the president’s broken promises to the American people. This ad aired across North Carolina on Monday and gained national attention, including lead stories from Politico, The Daily Caller and MSNBC.

Please follow this link to watch the ad and make a contribution of $10, $25, $50, or $100 to put this ad back on the air in time to “welcome” Obama next week!

President Obama promised he would cut the deficit and create millions of jobs, but the deficit is at a historic high and the unemployment rate has remained above eight percent for twenty-eight straight months. More broken promises.

If we can raise $7,300 in the next 24 hours, this ad can go back up on the air to ensure all North Carolinians hear our message loud and clear! Can I count on you to help?

Over the next eighteen months, you will hear more promises and pledges from President Obama as he attempts to recreate the 2008 campaign of “hope” and “change.” However, he will no longer be able to campaign on the broad, platitude-filled speeches that fueled his 2008 campaign. The president will have to stand on his record of failed policies and broken promises on jobs and the economy.

There is no doubt that President Obama and his campaign team handpicked North Carolina as the major battleground state for his re-election. He has promised a $1 billion campaign and a significant portion of that money is expected to be funneled through our state, long before the Democratic Convention kicks off in Charlotte. And Governor Perdue is hoping to benefit from the national attention and once again ride President Obama’s coattails to victory. So please follow this link right away to make a contribution of $10, $25, $50, $100 or whatever you can afford to help us put this ad back on the air.

Our state stands on the frontline as the first major obstacle to Obama’s path to the presidency! North Carolinians have the opportunity to strike a blow to his campaign from which he may never recover. We are energized and ready to fight Barack Obama and his army of highly paid volunteers. As one report said yesterday, “Republicans in the Tar Heel state have a simple message for President Obama…bring it on.” We just need your help to ensure President Obama is a one-term President – because this country cannot afford another 4 years of broken promises.

Please follow this link to make a contribution of $10, $25, $50, or $100 to help the North Carolina Republican Party welcome President Obama next week! Thank you in advance for your support.

Sincerely,

Robin Hayes
Chairman, North Carolina Republican Party
Member of Congress January 6, 1999 – January 6, 2009

P.S. Stand with us to tell Obama we want our country back! Please follow this link to make a contribution of $10, $25, $50 or even $100 to put this ad back on the air to welcome President Obama next week. Every dollar you are able to give will help us lay the foundation to defeat Barack Obama in 2012.
