Dr. Carl Mumpower, candidate for Congress in the 11th District, recently announced that he is putting his campaign on hold in order to unite the Republican Party behind the Republican principles. Buncombe County is proud to be the first of the 15 counties in the 11th District to throw its support behind this “Principles First” campaign.
Since his election as Party Chairman in March, Dr. Timothy Johnson has made the Republican Principles a priority, by featuring them prominently on the party’s website and by reading them aloud at the beginning of every Executive Committee meeting.
“If we want to elect principled Republicans to represent us, then we need to know and remember what our principles are,” says Johnson. “If our elected officials are not principled, it is because we have allowed them to be so.”
In addition to a rededication to the core Republican principles, Dr. Mumpower asked that each county “develop a sincere process for challenging local, state, and national Republican elected officials on votes that sidestep or otherwise betray our core guiding principles”. To that end, the Buncombe County Republican Party will begin that process by sending a copy of our principles to each Republican who serves our county and asking them to also read and rededicate themselves to these principles.
“Even the best men and women in public office can benefit from a friendly reminder of what our party stands for,” Johnson stated. “Anyone who may have an agenda other than the core Republican principles upon which this country was founded, will now be on notice that the people are paying attention.”

Below is a listing of repugnant acts and viewpoint for which you are prime cheerleaders. May God have mercy on your wretched souls and warped twisted minds.

Since God is a deity of unconditional love, one who so loved the world that he gave His only Begotten Son, is it not an oxymoron that the following is documented in your Christian Bible.? Would you not agree that you Christian have blood and your hands? How can you hypocrite find fault with Senator Obama. These are a few of the acts of your deity and the white folks you idolize. Thank you for taking the time to visit our website and express your ideas. Our county party has devoted very little time to the presidential race, focusing instead on our local races for County Commissioners, NC House, and NC Senate races. I am not clear to what you are referring when you say that black conservatives have disparaged Senator Obama. At our Mt Zion event on Saturday, we had 3 distinguished black Republicans speaking on the theme “Black Republicans: Reclaiming Our Place.” During this 3 hour event, perhaps only a few minutes were taken up by discussion of Senator Obama. We cannot control how other individuals and organizations conduct themselves, but as a county party we make every effort to be respectful of political opponents and those who hold differing opinions.
Likewise, we welcome people of all faiths and backgrounds, so long as they are respectful of the religious beliefs of others.
The Republican Party, and the Buncombe County Republican Party in particular is a diverse group of individuals with differing views on many issues, including some that you allude to in your comments.
