Vice Chairman’s Report

Rick Jenkins reported on an up coming Welcome Event for New Republicans taking place on May 20, 2007 at “Woodfin Community Center”. Also, plans are being made for a “Republican Night” at McCormick Field to raise money for the BCGOP.

Club Reports

Kathie Lack (Action Club) reported on the up coming “Stop Immigration Rally” on June 23, 2007. More information will be coming at later date. Kathie reported that there are plans to put up Booths at every possible convention — including the District Convention.

Chairman’s Report

Mike Harrison brought up the “Blue Ribbon Committee” in Hendersonville County on “Illegal Immigration”. Kathie Lack will look into this further to see if Buncombe County needs to get involved with this project.

Mike informed us on the dates, times and places for the 11th District Annual Convention as well as the State Convention. He also informed us of Charles Taylor — Appreciation Event.

Mike is working on appointing a permanent nominating committee. He would like to have four people for this committee. At this time he has appointed the following: Joe Dunn, Jesse Ledbetter and Frances Cosgrove.

Andrew Dunn was appointed as point of contact for monitoring information from the State Legislature. He will monitor: Taxes, Property Rights, Second Amendment, Jessica’s Law as well as other issues.

Old Business

Discussion was on the importance of:

Continuing to write letters to the Editor

Keeping Headquarters open each day

Setting up a special committee to call each Republican family to ask for $100 contribution to the BCOOP.

New Business

Eric Gorny gave a special report on Campaign Training. He explained Educational Campaign programs available for members. These programs take place in Arlington, Virginia. It would cost approximately $200 to train each person. It was suggested that we raise money to help sponsor people for this training.

In another area of discussion it was suggested the need to send each Republican in Buncombe County a paper newsletter. A subscription possibility was also suggested.

Announcements

Announcements were made regarding “Armed Forces Day,” which is on May 19, 2007 and reminding people to fly the Flag at Half Staff on Memorial Day, May 28, 2007.

Chad Nesbitt brought up statements made by Mike Harrison in a written article regarding mountain people. Chad objected to the statements and Mike Harrison responded.

Participants then began leaving the meeting thereby effectively terminating the meeting.

Respectfully Submitted

Ann Mills
