BCGOP Executive Committee meeting, Monday, 25 June 2007

 

Meeting called to order by chair Mark Delk at 6:35 p.m.

Pledge of Allegiance

 

Resolution regarding a referendum petition was introduced by Keller, seconded by Hebb.  After some debate, the resolution passed, 18-15.

 

Resolution from ACTION club re partisan elections was introduced by Keller.   Yelton proposed amendment, Durand seconded amendment.   After considerable discussion, Duncan moved to table the resolution, and Hebb seconded.   Resolution tabled unanimously.

 

Motion by Rightmyer to reconsider resolution regarding referendum petition, seconded by Larry Moore.   Revised resolution passed with large majority.   Revised resolution attached.

 

Kathie Lack made motion to “Direct Chairman of the BCGOP to a) inform Senator Burr that the BCGOP Executive Committee voted to ell him to vote “No” on cloture and “no” an Amnesty, and b) to issue a press release with this information.  Motion passed unanimously.

 

The Treasurer’s report was approved unanimously.

 

Chairman Mills reminded the precinct chairs of the meeting at AB-Tech on Tuesday, 26 June 2007, at 7:00 p.m. in the Simpson Building.

 

HK Edgerton, who was visiting the meeting, urged the formation of an education committee, to educate us all on issue about which his is concerned.    Chairman Mills asked HK to chair such a committee.  Oscar Chapman, Kathie Lack, and Eric Gorny volunteered (or were drafted) to serve with HK.

 

Around the room, we introduced ourselves.   See attached list of attendees.

 

Zora Banks called our attention to the need for more precinct chairs and vice chair, echoing a concern of our chairman, Mark Delk.

 

Eubanks remarked that Kathy Rhodarmer and Kathie Lack are doing more than their share of the heavy lifting (including financial) of the organization. 

 

Chairman Mark Delk urged us all to Recruit, Register, and Retain.   Regarding opponents, to Confront, Convince, and Convert.

 

Eric Gorny announced a July 16 Chocolate and Wine Tasting fund-raiser in Swannanoa.

 

There was a brief ACTION club report of the Rally for Legal Immigration.   A DVD of the event will be available.

 

Robin Ramsey reported that there will be a Worship Fest at the Ag Center on June 29 and June 30.   The women’s clubs have been invited to participate.

 

Vice Chair Rick Jenkins asked about interest in attending a Tourist Game as a group, at $35 for adults and $20 for children.   He will bring a specific date to the next meeting.
