Chair Mark Delk at
Invocation by Jerry Orr.
Pledge led by Mark Delk
Delk yielded gavel to first
vice chair Mills. Motion by Keller,
seconded by Chuck Durant, to ask visitors to step out of the room for this part
of the meeting. Motion passed, 20 to 3. Thus the Executive Committee went into closed
session. Members of the Executive
Committee who wish details of the closed session should contact Secretary
George Keller.
When the meeting had resumed,
and the visitors had returned, the minutes of the July Executive Committee meeting
were approved, motion by Orr.
The financial report from
Treasurer Ed Osada was approved.
Chairman Delk asked approval
for Robert H. Owen to be the precinct chair for 20.1. Motion to that effect by Bill Lack passed.

for Thomas Rightmyer, who has moved to
Chairman Delk announced that
the Young Republicans have adopted
Chairman Delk noted with
pleasure the reasonable treatment being accorded to our candidates by the
Asheville Citizen-Times.
Chairman Delk announced that
12 Republicans were trained in Voter Vault this past Saturday at AB Tech.
VC Mills thanked the workers
for getting to him the Precinct Judge information. Next will come the appeal for paid poll
workers, assistants, in the several precincts.
VC Jenkins announced that he
has in hand 102 names for the ball game on Friday night.
Kathie Lack told us of the
ACTION club tent at Goombay and the fun we had there.
Alice Keller announced that
the BCRWC’s next meeting will take place on September 13. Our four Asheville City Council candidates
have been invited to speak. The BCRWC
Christmas luncheon has been set at
Robin Ramsey said that their
club had raised enough money to send out all the baseball invitation postcards
without needing financial help from the BCGOP.
Many of their members helped by calling folks on the several lists. Dorothea Alderfer announced that five or six
of their members met at Dorothea’s home and prepared 200 rice socks for
distribution with Meals on Wheels food.
The BRRWC meets every first Thursday evening at Magnolia’s Restaurant on
Bill Lack reported that the
National Black Republican Association had succeeded in raising $6,200 for
printing more of their magazines. We
can buy them from the NBRA for $150 for 75 or $300 for 150. Chuck Durand passed his hat. More than $150 was collected.
George Keller described the
Latte’ Republicans’ meetings at Caffiend.
Aaron Pettit reported on the
Kids’ Club. In spite of their just
having acquired their Kids’ Club t-shirts, they have decided to change their
name to “Junior Republicans Club.”
Chuck Durand urged the county
precincts to help the city precincts.
There will be elections in 41 precincts, but that leaves the workers and
leaders in 34 county precincts who could help out.
Matt Hebb announced that he
must resign as president of the YR’s.
His business and his campaign consume all this time. He repeated the announcement that the Young
Republicans have adopted
Harry Maroni announced that
he has just changed his registration to Republican, to the cheers of the committee. He will support conservative candidates.
George Keller reminded the
members of the upcoming Mountain State Fair.
Many volunteered to help. He
also pointed out that training for treasurers is scheduled for
Yelton remarked about how
valuable Voter Vault is, and how it would be good to have a VV trainer for our
county.
Kathie Lack asked if Chairman
Delk had met with any black pastors.
It’s on his agenda.
Ken Selden reminded us to
bone up on the Fair Tax, which he said would figure prominently in the upcoming

Zora announced that Newt
Gingrich will conduct internet “meetings.”
She will feed information on these meetings to Secretary Keller who will
announce them to all.
Jennifer Styles asked if she
were still an Area Coordinator, and she was assured that she is indeed.
