George Keller reported on very successful Mountain State Fair booth experience. See website for results of poll.
Ed Osada presented the Treasurer’s report. Motion by Durand. Accepted.
Rich Mills, 1st VC for Organization, reported
that judges are in place for the primary except in precinct 22. Oct 2 is mandatory judge training at
Renaissance Hotel at
Mark Delk reminded us that Oct 9 is the Asheville Primary.
There are several LWV forums. Selina Sullivan will be our liaison to the LWV.
Motion by Keller to spend up to $1,000 to support our REP
candidates in
Ballot access press release nearly ready to go. Something along the lines of “We support ballot access.” The press release is to be sent out before the partisan/non-partisan forum.
Delk announced that Dr. Tim Johnson will be our delegate to the Black Republican Association Convention.

Delk proposed Linsey Henthorn to be the precinct chair for 14.3. Approved by the XC.
It was believed by several attendees that the NC Primary
will be on
Kathie Lack of the ACTION club reported on the very successful table at the Goombay Festival. It was there that Dr. Johnson was “recruited.”
Bill Porter reported that Richard Bernier had spoken to the Men’s Club, and that he is a very good speaker.
Alice Keller reported that the next meeting of the Buncombe County Republican Women’s Club will be held on Oct 11, with Kathie Lack as principal speaker and with Ginny Smith (Fred’s wife) as a special guest.
Frances Cosgrove reported that Carl Mumpower will speak to the Blue Ridge Republican Women’s Club on October 4. He will emphasize the challenges that the Asheville City Council will face. Candidates for City Council are invited.
Junior Republicans did not report, as the Pettits are traveling.
Rick Jenkins reported that the BCGOP is penciled in for August 29 (Friday) or August 30 (Saturday), 2008, for a Tourists’ game. Also, he’s planning a BBQ with bluegrass music in early spring 2008.
Betty Budd reminded us to start working on a speaker for Lincoln Day dinner, 2008.
Steve Duncan reported that the 11th District Golden Elephant dinner has been moved from Fall 2007 to early January 2008. Details to follow.
